Prior to Ë®¹ûÅÉ College, I had the honor of serving as an Environmental Protection Specialist at the Environmental Protection Agency. Additionally, I served as the Environmental Justice Professor of Practice at Bennett College, where I worked with students to explore the connections between environmental issues, justice, and community empowerment. 

I’m passionate about making sure diverse voices and stories are part of the conversation when we talk about racial equity in Geography, Environmental Studies, and Sustainability.

My research focuses on race and ethnicity, just sustainabilities, environmental ethics, Black American environmental history, and environmental racism. With my Jamaican heritage, I’m also deeply interested in Caribbean climate resilience. For my dissertation, I studied how historical disempowerment, racial violence, and anti-Black rhetoric in the United States have shaped Black environmental participation. 

I’m a proud two-time graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), where I earned my B.A. in Environmental Studies (with a minor in Biology) in 2014 and my Ph.D. in Geography in 2022. I also hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Environmental Communication, from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (2018).
